About The Authors

Ashlyn Boyle is a 21 year-old, born and raised in coastal Maine. She currently attends the University of Maine, studying Sociology as well as Women, Gender and Sexuality studies. Her keen interest in social behavior and passion for feminism led her to a class on Masculinities. Maine masculinities are of particular importance to her because she is surrounded by Maine men: a young brother, a partner, a father, grandfather, and numerous male friends.

Landere Naisbitt  is a 24 year-old Elementary Education major who loves children, botanical art, poetry, 19th century fashion, and nature - especially the woods, fields, and shores of the Blue Hill Peninsula. She plans to homestead there at some point, teach, raise a family, and continue her study of people and their societal constructions through an egalitarian feminist lens. She loves Maine and its people and hopes to gain further understanding and insight through this Masculinities blog.

Russell Ackerman is a thirty year old Aquarius who is a native Mainer and psychology major.  Critically assessing cultural and personal factors is something important to me, and my women and gender courses have given the the tools to do that.  I'm a white middle class male, I have bipolar and I am also a marijuana user.  These different factors in my life have given me a unique standpoint when it comes to men's lives in Maine.  Hope to see you in the comment section!
