This website is about a group that has attempted to preserve feminist history at the university of Maine.  From the site: The Maine Feminist Oral History Project (FOHP) at the University of Mainewas organized in 1992 to collect and preserve the histories of feminists of the 1960s and 1970s and of the organizations they founded to effect social change. FOHP concerns itself with local small-town or rural activism at the grassroots level, rather than with the urban or national organizations that have received scholarly attention elsewhere.
Operating as a collective under the aegis of the Women in the Curriculum and Women’s Studies Program at the University of Maine, FOHP includes among its members faculty, staff, and students of the University of Maine and of other neighboring institutions of higher education, as well as other members of the local community.

Maine Atheletes Against Violence.  From the page: Violence is a way of asserting power, privilege, and control. Men perpetrate the majority of violence, and yet this issue is usually framed as a “woman’s issue.” Change will come when we challenge the social norms and institutions that actively or implicitly condone and promote violence. MAAV is an effort to involve men so that we can begin to understand that violence is very much a “man’s issue.”

I had no idea this even existed (from the site: )The Industrial Workers of the World (a. k. a. “The Wobblies”) are a member-run labor union organizing workers in every industry. In addition to organizing for higher pay and better job conditions, we also have a long-term vision of the cooperative ownership of all the world’s workplaces. What this means is a worker-managed and worker-owned economy operated to meet human need. (they support an alternative kind of market to capitalism).

http://www.maine.gov

This is the Maine government webpage with resources for employment, starting a business.  There's contact information on legislatures and governor Paul LePage.  There's also news, and you can connect with them via twitter, facebook, and some other apps.  From here you can also navigate to the Maine Department of Labor page which has statistics on the workforce and unemployment rates.  Overall the local government seems pretty transparent and accessible.

Humor:

http://www.macho.co/mens-style-the-maine-man/

This is a somewhat humorous ad for expensive clothing claiming to be "the Maine Man's' style that perpetuates the media image of Maine white collar men as Maine's dominant masculinity.  At the same time the articles are overpriced and aimed at a high-class consumer market.  My favorite item is the $359 goosedown vest.
